My recent work is inspired by the macro and the micro- I use satellite and cellular imagery as a way to organize the chaos of an expansive space into an artificial landscape that inspires and piques a sense of wonder. I want to travel to these imaginary spaces and get lost in the fantasy world that emerges.
Robert Reed's paintings are inspired by books he collects on satellite imagery of the earth. Reed was born in 1973 in Pomona, California. In 1996, he received his B.A. degree in Philosophy at Sonoma State University. He started painting in 2000 after dropping out of graduate school and began assisting his friend and mentor with drawing classes in the south of France and continued participating for eight consecutive years. Reed has been included in various important exhibitions including "The Hootenany" at the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery and "12 X 12" at the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara, California.
