Sofie Siegmann

Artist Statement:

My painterly actions are expressions of a feeling for life. While painting, action painting, meditatively pouring water, I transport  personality, luck, character and spontaneity. The richness of forms and freely ascending layers of colors are gestures of personal openness. The colors define the space. At times representational, then very much expressive, abstract, the paintings appear flower-like and are shaped with a richness of painterly language. My work is alwasy in balance with abstraction and realism.

Sofie was born in 1964 in Munich, lived in Scotland and Germany before moving to Switzerland. There she attended Zurcher Hochschule der Kunste (University Department of Fine Art) in Zurich.

Her paintings are in exhibitions in Switzerland, Japan, Italy, France, Slovenia, Germany, and the US. She has created over 25 public art pieces in the Bay Area and Nevada.
